QuickTrip Corp., a $3 billion convenience store retailer operating 355 in nine states, said it would license the JDA Portfolio open dataBase merchandising system (ODBMS) developed by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based JDA Software Group Inc.
After an extensive evaluation of 12 competing applications, the Oklahoma-based retailer selected ODBMS to reduce operational costs, increase sales and better serve customers by improving efficiencies and inventory control.
"ODBMS is the product that proved to have the functionality and technical scalability to meet our requirements for variety, quality and service," stated Rodney Loyd, corporate sales manager for QuikTrip. "ODBMS will also enable us to achieve our growth plan over the next five years."
According to Loyd, QuikTrip stores average among the highest transaction volumes in the industry. "It's our goal to serve our customers as quickly and efficiently as possible," he said. "By automating our current processes with ODBMS' advanced capabilities such as price, promotion and vendor rebate management, we'll be able to operate more efficiently and pass our savings on to our customers."
"QuikTrip put ODBMS through rigorous paces during their evaluation and our market leading solution delivered as promised," stated Peter Charness, JDA's senior vice president, global marketing and chief product officer. "This new license once again proves that our strategy of significant investment in product development and ongoing acquisition is paying the dividends as our best-in-class capabilities and scalability are clearly outdistancing the competition."
JDA's consulting services and support key to QuikTrip decision. Loyd noted that JDA's comprehensive services offering significantly influenced QuikTrip's selection.
"With its consulting, training and support services, JDA offers a complete solution, which was very appealing to us," Loyd said. "We've experienced some vendors that offer third party consultants and it just didn't work. We are confident that JDA's consultants have the product expertise and retail experience to understand our unique requirements and help us achieve our objectives and implementation schedule."
