QuikTrip Plots Growth Through New, Existing Sites

TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip's expansion into South Carolina's upstate area is well-known, but lesser known are the convenience retailer's other expansions plans through both new builds and existing sites.

"We will be expanding into what's called the upstate South Carolina area, and also the Charlotte North Carolina metropolitan area," QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrough told KRMG.com.

In addition, according to the news radio station, the locally based convenience store operator is looking to either expand or rebuild older stores in Dallas, Des Moines, Omaha, Atlanta and Tucson, Ariz. -- to name just a few cities. And with QuikTrip's growth plans come more jobs.

"If we do what we think we should do, the growth will be pretty phenomenal, pretty quick," Thornbrough said. "Based upon what we're currently doing, within hopefully a year maybe 300 to 400 jobs."

Tulsa stores are also in line for some changes, according to the report. "Believe it or not, we're still continuing growth in Tulsa. Instead of new store counts, we're going back into some of the old store formats where we can and either relocating them or building the new Gen 3 on the existing area," he added.
