QuikTrip Opens Second Tucson Store

TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip Corp., the convenience-store chain based here that is planning a rapid expansion in the Tucson area, opened its second store there last week at 5151 E. Speedway, AZStarNet.com reported.

The store, a 5,000-square-foot facility with gas pumps that can accommodate 16 cars, follows a January opening of a similar QuikTrip store in the city.

The convenience store chain also announced it will open another store in the region at 1925 N. Kolb Road in July. Meanwhile, construction is under way on two other QuikTrip stores in Tucson, at East 29th Street at South Craycroft Road, and 1250 S. Pantano Road. Those stores are expected to open by May.

When the first Tucson store opened, CSNews Online reported QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said the company typically enters markets and builds "as many [stores] as the market will hold."

The company also bought land for a store near West Grant Road and Interstate 10, according to the report.
