WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- QuickChek Corp. announced today it has been named one of the Best Places to Work For in New York State for 2013. The convenience store retailer was recognized by the New York State Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Best Companies Group, an independent company that has managed Best Places to Work programs around the country.
Companies from across New York participated in a process to identify, recognize and honor the Best Places to Work. The process consisted of an evaluation of each nominated company's workplace practices and policies, as well as extensive employee surveys to measure employee satisfaction and engagement. Best Companies Group then evaluated the data and ranked the nominated companies whose practices benefit New York's business, economy and workforce.
According to QuickChek, a typical new store averages 6,000 square feet in size and generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue and 30 new jobs.
Recently, the New Jersey-based c-store retailer also won the Best Places to Work in its home state, a ranking by NJBIZ magazine, for the third year in a row. In addition, Convenience Store News magazine recently reported that QuickChek CEO, president and chairman Dean Durling was inducted into the CSNews Hall of Fame recognizing top industry leaders
QuickChek operates 133 locations throughout New Jersey and Southern New York, including 12 pharmacy stores and 37 locations with fuel. After opening its first location in Florida, N.Y., in 2007, the chain has expanded to 11 New York locations and plans to add more. A new store in Goshen is scheduled to open in March, according to the company. The chain prides itself on its fresh food program featuring toasted subs, breakfast sandwiches and high quality coffee.
The company will be formally recognized at an awards dinner honoring the 2013 Best Companies to Work for in New York State on April 30, 2013 at the Albany Marriott.
