Quick Chek Offers "Stimulus Sub Plan"

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, a chain of 118 fresh food convenience stores based here, will offer customers its own money-saving stimulus plan with free lunch this Thursday at all its locations across New Jersey and New York.

Customers purchasing any size Quick Chek coffee between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. that day will receive a "Sub Stimulus Plan" stamp on their hand at checkout. When they return to their local Quick Chek the same day between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and present their hand stamp, they will receive a complimentary six inch sub for lunch, the company reported.

Customers will be able choose from the following five most popular Quick Chek subs: Turkey & Ham Melt; Original Toasted Italian; Meatball and Fresh Mozzarella; Crispy Buffalo Chicken; and Tuscan Veggie Melt.

"We all know times are tough and this is one way we are letting our customers know we care," John Schaninger, Quick Chek’s vice president of sales and merchandising, said in a statement. "Our customers are the heart of the workforce in the areas we serve, and we are proud to help keep them going in any way we can."

Beginning this past Friday, the retailer is also inviting customers to join the Quick Chek Sub Culture—a fun and free online game at www.qcsubculture.com where players will be able to pick a favorite sub, dress it up, name it, give it a personality and create a message in their sub’s own voice. When their sub creations are complete, players are able to send their personalized characters and messages on to their friends and family.

In other Quick Chek news, the family-operated chain announced the winners of its Second Annual Devils Night Out Sweepstakes, which celebrates the company’s famed coffee as the official coffee of the New Jersey Devils. The contest asked customers to submit an essay stating why they deserved a "Devils Night Out."

More than 2,200 entries, vying for the Devils Night Out grand prize and 10 runners-up prize packages, were received online and in stores between Feb. 23 and March 23.

Chosen for its creativity, originality and compelling nature, the grand-prize winning essay (a portion quoted below) was authored by Pam Saunders of Wayne, N.J., who nominated the volunteer coaches of the Daredevils Special Hockey Team, a developmentally disabled team of passionate hockey players ages five to adult.

"My son is a player for the Daredevils developmentally disabled hockey team. Our players range from five to adult with disabilities such as autism and Downs Syndrome. I would love to show my appreciation for our coaches, who do not have children of their own on our team, by giving them a night out with the Devils and lots of great tasting Quick Chek coffee to drink. These coaches give up every Saturday afternoon to teach our kids to skate and play hockey, and along the way, they instill discipline, sportsmanship and the ability to follow direction."

The Daredevils Special Hockey Team coaches’ grand-prize package includes:
-- Free Quick Chek coffee for one year
-- Dinner for four at the Prudential Center Restaurant with a visit from a New Jersey Devils alumni player
-- Four lower level tickets to the New Jersey Devils’ April 11 Fan Appreciation Day game
-- VIP Tour of the Prudential Center
-- New Jersey Devils autographed item and New Jersey Devils gift pack

Ten runners-up in Quick Chek’s Devils Night Out Sweepstakes will also receive:
-- Ten vouchers for free Quick Chek coffee
-- Two tickets to the New Jersey Devils’ April 11 Fan Appreciation Day game.
-- Autographed New Jersey Devils hockey puck and New Jersey Devils gift pack
