FDA Launches Tobacco Webinar Series for 2011

WASHINGTON -- With regulations governing everything from tobacco advertising to product displays, retailers may find the road to selling tobacco products a bit confusing. However, the Food and Drug Administration is trying to make the road easier to navigate.

The FDA Center for Tobacco Products is hosting a new series of one-hour webinars on federal tobacco regulations. The goal of the interactive Webinars is to give retailers updated, relevant FDA compliance training information, according to the agency.

The 2011 Compliance Training for Tobacco Retailers Webinar Series will be held on March 29, April 26, May 18, June 28, July 26 and Sept. 20, all beginning at 1 p.m. Downloadable PowerPoint presentations are posted one to two weeks before each scheduled Webinar date. Archive versions will be available shortly after each Webinar, the agency said.

The series is based on retailer feedback and suggestions and the CTP is accepting user-generated topics for all upcoming webinars. No registration is required; there are limited Web connections and phone lines are available on a first-come basis. Participants can submit questions during each webinar by clicking on the Q&A box.
