FDA Issues 10,000th Retailer Warning Letter

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its 10,000th tobacco retailer warning letter.

"This milestone showcases the substantial efforts made to ensure compliance with tobacco regulations among retailers and reinforces our role in protecting public health," the FDA said in a statement obtained by CSNews Online.

In addition, the government agency said it issued warning letters to three manufacturers and one tobacco retailer for promoting or selling illegal cigarette or roll-your-own products labeled as "pipe tobacco."

"The warning letters include violations for selling modified risk tobacco products without an order in effect and/or selling prohibited flavored cigarette tobacco products," the FDA stated.
