Wilson Farms Clerk Honored as Best in Chain

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Samantha Melendez, a Wilson Farms store employee here, was named "E-3 Champion of the Year" by the 192-store convenience retailer.

The c-store operator selected the 31-year-old Niagara Falls resident last week for exhibiting excellent customer service the E-3 way: to everybody, every way, every day.

When asked about the acclaim, she told the Tonawanda News, "I’m a little beside myself, and very surprised. I don’t do anything special. It’s how I am; I just show up."

Wilson Farms Market Insights Manager Bruce Kloc told the newspaper the company's mission statement calls for store associates to exceed expectations and "Ms. Melendez was recognized as providing passionate and consistent customer service."

Wilson Farms President’s Council of corporate officers and managers reviews employee nominees, then makes secret shopper visits to observe the employees in action before choosing the honoree.

"If you want to see something amazing, just go into the store and meet her," said Kloc. "If we had one of her in every store, oh, my."

Melendez was honored at a corporate luncheon and will receive a gift card, a Wilson Farms jacket and a plaque commemorating her achievement.
