Wendy's Now Accepts Credit Cards

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Wendy's International has begun honoring credit cards at more than 7,000 of its restaurants, reported The Cincinnati Enquirer. Tom Mueller, president of the Dublin, Ohio-based chain, said the company began accepting credit cards at test restaurants in July -- and customers responded well to the convenience, the report stated.

Mueller insisted it will not take longer for checkout with the use of credit cards, and customers "appreciate the fact that the systems we've put in place ensure rapid service, both inside our restaurants and at pickup windows," Mueller said.

By the end of the year, more than 70 percent of Wendy's will accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa cards, and more will be participating in 2004, according to the newspaper.

McDonald's said it takes credit and debit cards at about 3,000 of its 13,000 U.S. stores and is expanding that policy, and Burger King said credit cards can be used at about 2,100 locations, the report stated.
