Wawa Moves Into Northern New Jersey
PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Wawa's newest construction here marks the chain's expansion into northern New Jersey, according to a report by The Star-Ledger.
The Wawa, Pa.-based convenience store chain expected to open the location in November. The top portion of New Jersey has been dominated by 7-Eleven and Quick Chek, while Wawa stores have spread through central and southern New Jersey, the newspaper noted. Wawa's spokesperson Lori Bruce did not say if more stores are planned for the state's northern counties.
Wawa stores also are found in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
The site was once intended to be the home of a BP gas station, which had been approved almost a decade ago, Parsippany Zoning Board Chairman Robert Iracane told the newspaper. When the project fell apart, Wawa proposed a store on the site.
