Stewart's Drops Gas Retails by 10 Cents at 272 Locations
ALBANY— In a move sure to buoy customer spirits, Stewart’s Shop Corp. dropped its gas prices by 10 cents per gallon at 272 of it 325 locations.
Last Friday’s announcement was in response to the decrease in the price of crude oil, reported The Business Review. For the first time since April, the retailer is offering gasoline priced below $3.50. One location is selling regular unleaded for $3.31 a gallon, according to Tom Mailey, a Stewart’s spokesperson.
"We’ve been watching prices for several weeks and we think the bubble may have burst," Mailey told the newspaper.
According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Albany is $3.59, which is 2 cents above the national average, but marks a decrease of nearly 20 cents from last month.
In other Stewart's news, the retail chain will participate in this year’s "Stop, Drop and Roll" fire campaign in association with the Guilderland (N.Y.) Fire Department. To this end, next week Stewart’s will put a safety message on 100,000 milk cartons sold in New York and Vermont.
