Simply Green to Open 'Congreenience' Store

DOVER, N.H. -- In an effort to provide a "green" place for customers to fill-up their fuel tanks and pantries, the Simply Green Biofuels station here will open in two weeks and offer biofuels and local products, and utilize environmentally friendly technologies to reduce its energy consumption, television station WMUR reported.

"This will be the first of its kind, I think, even east of the Mississippi," Andrew Kellar, founder of Simply Green Biofuels, told the station. "We're going to have solar panels up on the roof," to offset a portion of what it consumes in electricity, he said.

Other green design elements at the station will include the plants and the concrete paint used, according to the television report.

"All this has been painted and stained," Kellar added. "It's environmentally friendly concrete paint that we've used."

Fuels offered will include E10 and two varieties of biodiesel—B5 and B20—and E85 will be added in the future, according to a report in the Foster’s Daily Democrat.

In addition, Simply Green Biofuels plans that 75 percent of the food products inside the station will be locally sourced within 100 miles, and many will be organically grown. To complete the theme, the store will be called a "congreenience store."

"This concept was second nature to us," Kellar told the newspaper. "We want to provide a local option not only for fuel, but for items that people use every day. Our customers can come in to shop and know that what they are buying is helping our local community as well as reducing their own carbon footprint."

Simply Green Biofuels began by offering green alternatives to home heating, diesel and marine fueling in the Seacoast, but quickly expanded its service area to include northern Massachusetts and southern Maine, the report stated.
