Red Sox Slugger to Develop Convenience Store

ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Mo-Wash LLC, the company owned by former Red Sox player Mo Vaughn, finalized the purchase of a vacant Ski Barn property and expect to start construction of Mo Vaughn's Express Car Wash and Quick Lube before the end of the year, reported the Sun Chronicle.

The plans, which have been in preliminary stages for more than a year, include fuel pumps, a convenience store, a doughnut shop with a drive-thru, a car wash and an oil change service. The property cost the company $2.75 million in a deal that was completed on Sept. 29.

Vaughn and business partner, Terrance Elder, applied for zoning board permits earlier this year to build the facility. Elder told the newspaper that the goal will be to begin construction in December and open a Mobil On-the-Run gas station and c-store in March. Before that can begin, however, demolition and building permits need to be in place, Elder added.

The 4,400 square foot store will include a Dunkin' Donuts and New England Hot Dog franchises. This facility will be the "first of hopefully a few," Elder told the Sun Chronicle.

The car wash and detailing service, along with the quick lube will be open in July, according to Elder. A 160-foot softcloth car wash tunnel, a 50-foot touchless tunnel, six detailing bays and three oil change bays will make up the car care center, in addition to 16 vacuums and vending machines that supply car care items, the newspaper reported.
