NOCO Express Stores Raise More Than $10,000 for MDA

TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- NOCO Express convenience store customers and employees came together to show their shamrock spirit in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). As a result of NOCO's annual "Share the Shamrock Spirit" in-store campaign, $10,287 was raised for MDA, beating last year's fundraising efforts by $5,000, NOCO reported in its Fillup T Frog Blog.

"The generosity shown by our customers and associates illustrates the importance of finding a cure and providing continued support for MDA programs and services," said Michael Newman, executive vice president of NOCO Energy Corp. "We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who purchased a shamrock this year."

From Feb. 8 through March 17, NOCO Express customers could purchase a $1 paper shamrock to benefit MDA, the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research.

The association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. MDA was created in 1950 by a group of adults with muscular dystrophy, parents of children with muscular dystrophy and a physician-scientist studying the disorder. Today, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country and supports nearly 400 research products around the world, according to the NOCO blog.
