RICHMOND, Va. -- More than two months ahead of schedule, Ukrop's Super Markets, Inc. said yesterday it has completed a 16-month renovation effort at its Chesterfield Towne Center store in its home base of Richmond, Va., according to CSNews sister publication, Progressive Grocer.

The newly remodeled store -- which originally was built in 1997 -- features new décor, bright lighting, and split aisles for easier shopping. It also offers customers a new pharmacy, located in the back of the store near an expanded natural and organic area; an expanded meat department to include a full-service meat and seafood case for custom cuts and special orders; a larger produce section with expanded offerings; a bigger café with a Starbucks; free wireless Internet access; and a Celebration Room for private events, business meetings, and social gatherings.

In addition, the store includes all of Ukrop's traditional departmental offerings including deli, bakery, in-store grill and café, salad bar, and floral shop, as well as a large selection of in-store services like First Market Bank, dry cleaning/alternations, and photo finishing.

To celebrate the grand reopening, Ukrop's will offer "hot deals" at the store starting June 27 through July 8. During the first week of the celebration, Ukrop's will host family-fun activities as well as free product sampling.

Ukrop's Super Markets, Inc. now operates 27 retail food stores, Joe's Market, a central bakery and kitchen, and a distribution center.
