Mac's and Circle K Earn Racing Stripes

MERCED, Calif. -- Alimentation Couche-Tard's Mac's and Circle K convenience store brands will serve as series title sponsor for ARCA West's U.S. and Canadian tours this year, officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America have announced.

Under terms of the agreement, the U.S. tour will become the ARCA West Circle K Challenge Series, while the Canadian tour will become the ARCA West Mac's Challenge Series, according to a report by Inside Track magazine.

"From a company standpoint, this certainly shows that we are serious about our involvement in motorsports and the connection between Mac's/Circle K and race fans," Ron Thompson, marketing manager for Mac's Western Division told the magazine. "We value the patronage our stores receive from the race teams and fans."

Both Mac's Convenience Stores and Circle K are subsidiaries of Alimentation Couche- Tard, which is the fourth largest convenience retailer in North America operating a network of more than 5,600 stores across Canada and the United States.

Full schedules for the 2008 ARCA West Mac's Circle K Challenge Series will be released in the coming weeks and is expected to include standalone events in Canada and the U.S., as well as a number of companion events, the report stated.

The ARCA West Mac's/Circle K Late Model Challenge Series feature template-bodied, straight rail late models with drivers from throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada. The series is a licensee of the nationally-based Automobile Racing Club of America and provides a West Coast connection to the ARCA sanctioning body.

"We are pleased to partner with a retailer the caliber of Mac's Convenience Stores/Circle K Stores," Richard Michaud, president of ARCA West, told Inside Track. "We strongly feel that having a partnership of this magnitude under the ARCA banner will produce positive results for both entities."
