Kwik Star to Acquire Iowa Star Stop

CHARLES CITY, Iowa -- A Star Stop convenience store here will close its doors in April after being sold to Kwik Star, a division of 350-unit convenience store operator Kwik Trip Inc., the Charles City Press reported.

A sale to Kwik Star is almost final, Star Stop manager Matt Ross told the paper, adding that the buyer plans to redevelop the building, and due to this, the facility will be closed for two months.

"They're going to gut the whole thing and make it one big store," Ross told the paper.

Currently, Star Stop consists of a convenience store and three quick service restaurants -- an A&W/Long John Silver's combo restaurant and a Godfather's Pizza, according to the report.

Kwik Star will take over on April 1, pending the final deal, the report stated.

"They'll be closed for two months -- April and May -- and then they'll be back open about the first of June," Ross told the paper.
