Gilbarco Launches Intelligent Device Management

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root will exhibit Intelligent Device Management (IDM) at NACStech this year, to be held May 18-20, at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. The software program summarizes status of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and all Gilbarco dispensers on a summary dashboard screen for easy management review and decision-making.

"With the energy savings, there is a very quick return-on-investment on this program," Fawaz Khalil, Gilbarco’s director of service marketing said in a released statement. "Retailers report percentage power consumption savings in the range of double digits and additional savings measured in terms of increased uptime and saved inventory. Retailers who have tried the system report they save time and money and consumers have a better experience when everything is working as promised."

IDM includes alarms, asset management, asset tracking and logical predictive maintenance in an easy-to-use system that can be viewed from virtually anywhere, the company reported. Retailers can quickly control all devices in a single dashboard to manage their businesses by exception when conditions fall outside the typical or predefined ranges.

For example, a retailer who established in advance that a given cooler should operate within a specified overall temperature range will get an alarm notice if the cooler temperature goes out of that range, or will be notified when a dispenser needs routine maintenance, such as filter changes, receipt paper or other alarm conditions, according to the company.

Using the software, retailers can optimize power and energy consumption by establishing rules across a network of sites to avoid peak utility rates, maximize uptime, protect inventory, and comply with guidelines for food storage, the company stated.
