Flying J Exits Truck Repair Business

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Bosselman Inc. acquired 15 J Care Service Centers, a subsidiary of truck stop operator Flying J, for an undisclosed price. The acquisition is for its truck repair shops only; the travel centers will remain Flying J, according to a report by The Post-Tribune.

The management changeover began yesterday and will be completed by yearend. The Bosselman Family of Cos., based in Grand Island, Neb., also owns and operates eight travel centers, as well as 41 Pump & Pantry convenience stores.

"We're expanding our [Boss Shop] locations and Flying J is getting out of the truck repair business," Chuck Bosselman, company president, told the newspaper. "They had a small number of shops—15 nationwide. We'll have 25 after the acquisition."

Flying J recently merged with Pilot Travel Centers LLC of Knoxville, Tenn., as part of its framework for emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the report stated.

Truckers will find more options to pay for their repairs and more tire brands under his company, Bosselman said. He added the truck repair shops also provide oil changes, do minor repairs, sell tires and offer a full line of truck parts and accessories.

This is the company's first venture in Indiana, Bosselman said.
