Cody's Acquires Nine Snak Atak Stores

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Cody's Convenience Stores last week expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of nine Snak Atak stores in the Joplin, Mo., area, the Springfield Business Journal reported.

"It helps give us presence down here," Cody's executive vice president, Curtis Jared, told the paper. "Joplin's a good market, and it's an area that we've been eyeing for a while anyway. It's a perfect fit."

The deal closed April 15, according to Jared, who did not disclose the sale price, the report stated. Cody's purchased the stores from John Starrett and brothers Donnie and Ronnie Simpson, Jared told the newspaper.

As a result, the nine stores will be rebranded to the Cody's banner, he added. This acquisition, in addition to two new builds that will open this month, brings the chain's store count to 36, according to the report.

This is the second acquisition for the growing chain so far this year. In January, Cody's acquired six bankrupt Express Lane convenience stores for $1 million, CSNews Online reported.
