Casey’s Pizza Rises to the Occasion for Wedding Reception

MOVILLE, Iowa -- They say rain is good luck on your wedding day. But what happens when it snows? One Iowa couple found out that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad omen with a little help from Casey’s General Stores Inc.

As a pre-winter snowstorm hit Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 18, Christine Sweers and Adam Jastram found themselves without a caterer or disc jockeys on the morning of their wedding. Both canceled due to the bad weather, and they weren’t the only ones. The ushers could not make the wedding because Interstate 29 was closed and only 33 out of 165 guests showed up for the 4 p.m. ceremony in Sioux City, according to the Sioux City Journal.

But the show must go on. After exchanging vows at the Central Baptist Church in Sioux City, the bride and groom received word that the DJs were able to make their way to Moville, where a reception was planned for the Moville Community Center. Still without food for the reception, a friend of the bride’s turned to Casey’s, ordering 24 pizzas, the newspaper reported.

Casey’s pizza may not have been on the original menu, but it is one meal the new Mr. and Mrs. Jastram are sure to remember for the rest of their (married) lives.
