Bay Oil Relocates After Hurricane

GALVESTON, Texas -- Eight months after Hurricane Ike wiped out its old building, Bay Oil Inc. is moving into a new 13,230-square-foot headquarters in Dickinson, Texas, according to a report in Galveston County’s The Daily News.

When Hurricane Ike was forming, the fuel wholesaler to convenience stores, run by brothers Brooks and Link Smith, worked to ensure the county, some cities and emergency crews had fuel to keep going during and after the storm, the newspaper reported.

As a result, Shell Oil Co. awarded the company with its prestigious Pearl Award given to wholesalers who demonstrate excellence in philanthropy.

Bay Oil employs approximately 30 people and had been at its former building, located at 3914 State Highway 3, for 10 years, the report stated.
