Sunoco’s Free Fuel 5000 Contest Celebrates 10th Year

PHILADELPHIA — Sunoco Inc. is celebrating one decade of its Free Fuel 5000 contest, during which time it's given out $5,000 grand prizes to 10 customers throughout the country.

The Free Fuel 5000 is Sunoco's signature promotion, offering millions of customers a Sunoco decal similar to those seen on race cars in NASCAR. Sunoco is the official fuel of NASCAR. During the annual promotion, spotters look for the decal on vehicles at Sunoco stations.

This year, from June through August, more than 6,500 Sunoco customers instantly won a $10 gift card and were entered for the chance to win the grand prize.

Bill Hahn of Ridgefield, Conn., one of those spotted with a decal, was recently named the $5,000 grand-prize winner. He received his prize on Nov. 18.

“After 10 years, customer enthusiasm continues to grow,” said Drew Kabakoff, Sunoco's director of marketing. “We are proud and grateful to every loyal driver who sports the Sunoco bumper sticker.”

Philadelphia-based Sunoco Inc. is a division of Energy Transfer Partners LP. It operates more than 4,800 retail outlets in 26 states, including more than 600 APlus convenience stores.
