PEARL, Miss. — Pilot Flying J joined forces with Clean Energy Fuels Corp. to open Mississippi’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling station here.
The LNG station opened at the Flying J Travel Plaza on Highway 80 on Sept. 16. The City of Pearl has 25,000 residents and is four miles from Jackson, Miss., capital of the state.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Flying J now has more than 60 LNG stations.
"For us, that's what it's all about — making these resources available to our customers — because we're committed to making life better for professional drivers. And as our partnership with Clean Energy continues to make LNG more accessible to drivers, they'll be able to access natural gas from coast to coast," said Dave Mangialardi, Pilot Flying J’s region manager.
The Pearl location will serve the 115 LNG heavy-duty trucks Raven Transport uses to haul consumer packaged goods, the news outlet reported.
"We are pleased that America's Natural Gas Highway comes right through our town of Pearl but I look forward to seeing it expand throughout Mississippi," said state Sen. Dean Kirby (R-District 30) during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Pilot Flying J operates more than 650 fueling stations, truck stops and convenience stores in 43 states and Canada.
