PEI Offering Course on CNG Station Design and Construction

TULSA, Okla. -- The Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) is making available of a new online CNG Fueling Station Design and Construction course designed for companies interested in designing and building natural gas fueling stations, equipment providers, oil marketers and those involved in permitting compressed natural gas (CNG) stations.

Produced in association with the Natural Gas Vehicle Institute (NGVi) and originally presented live to sold-out crowds in Las Vegas, Chicago and Baltimore, the online CNG Fueling Station Design and Construction course includes a total run time of more than 12 hours of streaming video, divided into 12 modules. Purchasers may view the videos at their pace and at their convenience as often as they would like for three full weeks after purchase, PEI stated. Participants also will be able to download, print and keep a comprehensive course manual with helpful summaries, schematics, forms and other information.

During the course, online participants will learn:

• 12 questions to ask as they begin to size a natural gas fueling station.
• The most common station configurations and subsystems.
• Keys to developing the right equipment specifications.
• The essence of workable construction specifications.
• Characteristics of qualified contractors.
• Necessary permits and how to secure them.
• Piping and instrument diagrams and plot plans.
• Safety procedures and guidelines and how your plan can address them.

Leo Thomason, president and co-founder of NGVi, will serve as instructor for the course. Thomason has more than 25 years of direct natural gas vehicle and fueling infrastructure development experience, according to the announcement, and has personally trained more than 15,500 students in the United States and worldwide. Thomason is also a CSA-certified CNG Fuel System Inspector.
