OnCue Express Teams On CNG Stations in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A deal between OnCue Express convenience stores and Chesapeake Energy Corp. will bring six compressed natural gas fueling stations to Oklahoma this winter. OnCue Express LLC of Stillwater will own and operate the CNG stations.

Five of the CNG stations will open Jan. 12 through Jan. 18 at Chesapeake’s field offices in Weatherford, Waynoka, Lindsay, Arkoma and Wilburton. A sixth is slated to open in El Reno at a later date. The new stations will be open to anyone with a CNG or bi-fuel vehicle. Chesapeake, a natural gas explorer and producer, converted nearly 700 if its fleet vehicles to CNG, according to NewsOK.com.

According to OnCue Express chief executive officer Jim Griffith, CNG prices are approximately $1.39 per gallon, compared to approximately $3 per gallon for unleaded gasoline.

Aubrey McClendon, founder and chief executive officer of locally based Chesapeake, has been a leader in pushing for a nationwide transition to CNG fleet vehicles to lower the country’s dependence on foreign oil.
