N.Y. Senator Says No to Gas Station Price Gouging

NEW YORK -- Fed up with rising gas prices and dishonest practices, New York lawmakers are taking a stand against price gouging by proposing new legislation.

State Senator Eric Adams unveiled new legislation recently that will provide a platform for consumers to report gas stations that are price gouging or not meeting state gas standards, reported CBS News.

"The public should not have to drive around the state burning gas trying to find out who to report it to. This information should be readily by the pump or by the pay station," Adams told CBS News, adding that if legislation passed, signs would be placed where gas is sold.

Adams' proposed legislation also calls for stiffer penalties for those gas stations that are found to be price gouging or not meeting state fuel quality requirements.
