Murphy USA Opens Arkansas' First E15 Station

EL DORADO, Ark. -- Murphy USA Inc. became the first retailer to offer E15 in Arkansas.

The company began selling the alternative fuel -- a blend of 15-percent ethanol and 85-percent gasoline -- yesterday at its 2720 N. West Ave. convenience store and gas station in El Dorado, which is also Murphy USA's hometown.

As CSNews Online previously reported, this new location also represents a second milestone as it is Murphy USA's 1,200th convenience store.

In addition to E15, the location sells E85 at the pump, which is intended for flex-fuel vehicle use.

"It is very encouraging to see a major retailer like Murphy USA understand the value in offering ethanol-blended fuels like E15 and E85, and we are confident they will have a positive experience," stated Robert White, director of market development for the Renewable Fuels Association, a trade group advocating ethanol. "Retailers across the country are always looking for new opportunities to increase volumes and margins, while also attracting new consumers, and E15 and E85 are the perfect fit."

Zarco USA (then known as Zarco 66) became the first U.S. retailer to offer E15 at the pump at its Lawrence, Kan., location in June 2012. Today, approximately 40 U.S. gas stations in 12 states offer E15, with the highest number of locations concentrated in Iowa.

Murphy USA Inc. was spun off from Murphy Oil Corp. on Aug. 30. It operates both Murphy USA and Murphy Express locations.
