MAPCO Begins Mobile Payment at the Pump

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.  -- MAPCO is changing the way consumers pay at the pump. The locally based convenience store chain teamed up with PayPal and launched the MY MAPCO app to bring customers a convenient and secure way to purchase gasoline using their mobile devices.

Available for both iOS and Android, the MY MAPCO app is designed to help protect against fraudulent transactions by eliminating a customer's need to publicly share their credit card information or carry large amounts of cash, according to the c-store retailer.

Additionally, the MY MAPCO app gives customers 5 cents back on every fuel gallon filled.

Consumers who download the app can drive to the nearest MAPCO location, open the app on their mobile device, enter how much they want to pay for gas and check out using PayPal -- the exclusive payment option in the MY MAPCO app.

The app, which launched in beta in May, is now available as a payment option at 276 MAPCO locations across Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

PayPal is a division of eBay Inc.
