Kwik Trip Continues on CNG Expansion Path

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Kwik Trip Inc. celebrated the opening of its 15th compressed natural gas (CNG) station on Aug. 28 in Janesville, Wis. The company plans to open another 10 CNG stations before the end of this year.

The Wisconsin-based convenience store chain has committed to developing a functional CNG infrastructure throughout the state and earlier this summer was lauded for these efforts, as CSNews Online previously reported. Additional CNG stations will be installed in Eagan, Minn.; Mankato, Minn.; Baldwin, Wis.; New Berlin, Wis.; Plover, Wis.; Oak Creek, Wis.; Waterloo, Iowa; De Pere, Wis.; Menomonie, Wis.; Wausau, Wis. and Albert Lea, Minn.

Currently, Kwik Trip operates CNG stations in La Crosse, Wis. (2); Sturtevant, Wis.; Rochester, Minn.; Oshkosh, Wis. (2); Minnesota City, Minn.; Owatonna, Minn.; Pewaukee, Wis.; Sheboygan, Wis.; Grand Chute, Wis.; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Verona, Wis.; St. Michael, Minn. and Janesville, Wis.

As a privately held company, Kwik Trip has expanded its fuel offerings using only its own internal resources and expertise, the company said. Additionally, Kwik Trip believes that in order to be successful, it needs to bolster natural gas vehicle (NGV) adoption and simultaneously build a functional infrastructure for its guests.

Convenience Fleet, Kwik Trip's distribution fleet, travels 18 million miles on an annual basis. The company currently owns and operates 50 NGVs and plans to continue the transition of its entire fleet to run on natural gas.

La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip operates 430 c-stores and gas stations.
