H-E-B Launches New Fuel Savings Program

SAN ANTONIO -- In an effort to help Texas families weather the current economy and save money in preparation for the back-to-school season, supermarket chain H-E-B is offering a new fuel rewards program it developed to help its customers save each time they gas up at an H-E-B fuel station.

Starting today, customers who use an H-E-B gift card when filling up can save 11 cents a gallon at any one of H-E-B's participating fuel stations in the San Antonio, Central Texas, Gulf Coast, Border and Rio Grande Valley regions. H-E-B gift cards can be purchased in advance at any H-E-B store, are reloadable and have no activation fees.

"We understand that our customers are very sensitive to gas prices which are having a larger impact on their family budget," said Winell Herron, H-E-B group vice president of public affairs and diversity. "At H-E-B, we are always looking for opportunities to help our customers enjoy greater savings, especially as they prepare for back-to-school."

The fuel rewards program, known as "Gas Up, Save More," will run through Oct. 31 in the San Antonio, Central Texas, Border and Rio Grande Valley regions, and will be extended to Corpus Christi through Dec. 31 in celebration of H-E-B's 80th anniversary of operating stores in the Gulf Coast. During each gas transaction, the fuel savings will be immediately reflected at the pump, with no other restrictions or requirements.

To ensure that its customers take advantage of the savings, H-E-B is heavily marketing the rewards program with in-store signage, billboards, TV, radio and print ads, and through digital and social media channels. A list of H-E-B stores with participating fuel stations can be found at www.heb.com.

San Antonio, Texas-based H-E-B operates 332 grocery stores in Texas and Mexico.
