Delek Refinery Fire Halts Production

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- A fire at Delek US Holdings Inc.’s 60,000-barrel-per-day Tyler, Texas, refinery temporarily caused a halt in production.

At approximately 2 p.m. Nov. 20, an explosion and related fire occurred in the facility’s Saturates Gas Plant. At least six people have received medical attention, one of whom died, the company stated.

"Our top priority is the health of those impacted by this event," Fred Green, president and COO of Delek Refining, said in a statement. "Our on-site emergency teams and safety personnel, in coordination with local first responders, are working closely together to help ensure the well-being of the Tyler community."

The cause of the incident and the extent of the damage have not been established as of press time.

"In the days and weeks ahead, we will work diligently to determine the cause and origin of the fire," Green said. "We remain wholly committed to the safe operation of the Tyler refinery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured employees and their families."
