Clean Energy Keeps Pace With Natural Gas Demand

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Clean Energy Fuels Corp. completed and opened 27 natural gas fueling stations throughout the United States in the first half of the year.

Nine of the stations are truck-friendly "America's Natural Gas Highway" stations. As CSNews Online previously reported, Clean Energy has built many natural gas stations since 2012. The company says its efforts are to meet the needs of customers seeking the alternative fuel.

"More of our customers are pursuing natural gas fueling stations to meet sustainability goals," the company said in a statement. "As Clean Energy continues to open its natural gas highway, you can bet our trucks will be fueling on it."

When all phases of America's Natural Gas Highway are completed, natural gas fueling centers will be located in all 48 states in the continental U.S. Several of the natural gas centers are co-located with truck stop operator Pilot Flying J.

Natural gas -- comprised of both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) -- is purported to be locally produced, cleaner burning, cheaper and more abundantly available than its traditional petroleum counterpart.

Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. builds and operates LNG and CNG stations, and manufactures CNG and LNG equipment and technologies for itself and other companies.
