Chevron Hawaii Stations Begin Transition to Texaco

KAPOLEI, Hawaii — The first Chevron gas stations in Hawaii have rebranded as Texaco with Techron stations, its sister brand.

The remaining sites are expected to complete the rebranding process by the end of 2017. The Stadium and Beretania stations in Honolulu and the Kapolei station were the first to transition, reported Pacific Business News

The conversion follows Island Energy Services' November 2016 acquisition of Chevron Corp.'s refining, distribution and retail assets in Hawaii, as CSNews Online previously reported. The purchase price was not disclosed at the time, but the deal was worth $120 million, according to recently released public records.

Island Energy is a subsidiary of One Rock Capital Partners and Texaco's Hawaii licensor.

"As a locally run and managed company, we know how much Hawaii drivers love Techron, and we will continue to provide our customers with the same high quality gasoline that drivers expect," said Island Energy President and CEO Jon Mauer in a statement. "As Chevron, and now as Texaco, we are proud to be the only gas stations across the islands to offer Techron in every grade."

Texaco will continue Chevron's reward programs, including the Safeway Reward program and the Chevron/Texaco credit cards and gift cards.

"While there may be a new exterior look and feel at the rebranded stations, we can assure the community that we are 100 percent committed to Hawaii and its residents," said Al Chee, Island Energy vice president of retail marketing and community relations. "We are committed to working with the dedicated retailers who helped build Chevron's strong reputation in Hawaii."
