Alon & GreenPrint Bring Reduced Emissions Fuel Program to Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas — Alon Brands Inc. and GreenPrint LLC have expanded the Strive Reduced Emissions Fuel Program, this time offering the carbon-neutral sustainability program at Alon's Lubbock 7-Eleven locations.

Alon, a division of Alon USA Energy Inc. and the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States, now offers Strive at 50 locations in Texas and New Mexico. As CSNews Online reported in January, the company plans to offer the program at all 309 of its convenience stores in the future.

The Strive program is designed to make drivers feel good about the fuel they pump, while supporting the local community and the environment. For every gallon of fuel sold, Alon and GreenPrint will plant trees and locally invest in other projects to neutralize associated tailpipe emissions by up to 30 percent.

“We’ve been very pleased with the impact the Strive program has made in the Albuquerque community, so expanding the program to our Lubbock stores was a natural next step," said Jonathan Ketchum, senior vice president of retail at Alon Brands. “As a part of our relationship with GreenPrint, we’re looking forward to planting at least 5,000 trees throughout New Mexico and Texas this year.”

Alon has long invested in its communities and GreenPrint is proud to join it in this process, added Peter Davis, founder and CEO of Atlanta-based GreenPrint.

“We’re excited to continue expanding the positive impact Strive has had for Alon thus far," Davis said. "Today, 90 percent of consumers take a few extra steps to the blue bin to recycle because it’s easy to do the right thing. Similarly, Alon/7-Eleven is making it easy for consumers to drive clean. We believe that the people in Lubbock will continue to turn into Alon/7-Eleven stations when it’s time to fill up.”

The Arbor Day Foundation is also a partner in the Alon-GreenPrint relationship.

Dallas-based Alon markets motor fuel products at more than 800 convenience stores.
