Wawa Helps Stamp Out Hunger

WAWA, Pa. -- Wawa Inc. is joining the Food Bank of Delaware, as the organization kicks off its annual Check-Out Hunger campaign, a regional fundraiser in the Tri-state area each October through January, according to a report by the Sussex Countian.

Wawa convenience stores, ShopRite, Pathmark, Superfresh, Janssen's and Zingo's customers are asked to make donations upon checking out in increments of $1, $3 or $5. All proceeds are used to fight hunger locally.

The Check-Out Hunger campaign has collected more than $340,000 since its inception in 2001, said Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe.

Each store's check-out counter will feature a tear-off placard. Customers can tear off a coupon and hand it to the cashier. Donations will be added to the final bill and all donations will go to the Food Bank of Delaware.

Other retailers interested in participating in the campaign may contact the Food Bank of Delaware at (302) 444-8074.
