Sheetz Promotes Vice Presidents

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc., operator of more than 330 convenience stores based here, promoted two veteran executives to the level of executive vice president. Mike Lorenz, former vice president of petroleum supply, was elevated to the position of executive vice president of petroleum supply; while Ray Ryan, former vice president of distribution services, was promoted to executive vice president of distribution and Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, the company stated.

The promotions, effective Oct. 1, allow Lorenz and Ryan to join the Sheetz Executive Committee, which sets all strategic goals for the company and leads all corporate departments that support store operations, the company stated.

"It gives me tremendous pleasure to see Mike and Ray advance to the next level here at Sheetz," Stan Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz, said in a statement. "A large part of our company's success can be directly attributed to their hard work and leadership."

In 2000, Lorenz joined the company as the vice president of petroleum supply. In his role, he is responsible for purchasing all petroleum products for Sheetz, which totals more than one billion gallons annually, according to the company. Prior to Sheetz, Lorenz spent 22 years at ExxonMobil as a senior U.S. product trader.

Ryan joined Sheetz in 1977, and has worked a variety of positions in his 30 years of service for the company, including store manager, district manager, loss prevention coordinator, as well as posts in marketing and foodservice. An integral part of the Sheetz Distribution Center development, he took the vice president role in 2001, the company stated.

In his new position, Ryan will oversee all operations of the new Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, a 140,000-square-foot kitchen expected to be operational in the fall of 2008, where food products will be made and shipped daily to all Sheetz locations, the company stated.

"Sheetz Bros. Kitchen is a project we all are excited about here at Sheetz," Sheetz said. "We're confident that Ray will provide the perfect leadership for our goals with this new facility."
