Sheetz Makes Final Decision in Pepperoni Roll Controversy

ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz Inc. selected Clarksburg, W.Va.-based Home Industries Bakery as the sole supplier of pepperoni rolls for the chain's West Virginia convenience stores, following a canceled plan to choose an out-of-state bakery, according to a WDTV report.

Home Industries will begin supplying all 49 West Virginia Sheetz locations starting Sept. 12.

"We are extremely thankful to have heard from our customers regarding pepperoni rolls sold at our stores in West Virginia," Sheetz said in a statement. "We are even more excited to be able to act upon that feedback and deliver a partnership to provide West Virginia-baked pepperoni rolls to all of our West Virginia stores."

In July, Sheetz announced plans to choose one local vendor partner to supply pepperoni rolls. A social media outcry had prompted the retailer to reconsider partnering with a single bakery located in another state, as CSNews Online previously reported.

The Altoona, Pa.-based convenience store chain selected Home Industries following a thorough evaluation of West Virginia vendors.

"We look forward to this partnership with Home Industries Bakery and appreciate our customers’ open and honest feedback through this evaluation process," Sheetz stated. "We are a consumer-driven company and our customers' needs are, and always will be, extremely important to us."
