Rutter's Stirs Up Foodservice Program with Wok and Rolls

YORK, Pa. -- In an effort to stir up consumers' taste buds, Rutter's Farm Stores unveiled a new foodservice platform including custom stir-fry and fresh-baked bread.

"We've spent months developing a menu that's not typically associated with a convenience store," Jerry Weiner, vice president of foodservice, said in a released statement.

While the new program has been introduced at two renovated locations, the first brand-new store to feature the program will open later this month on North Hills Road in Springettsbury Township.

Customers can create custom stir-frys and fajitas. The revamped menu also features the choice of fried rice, white rice, oriental noodle, veggie, beef, chicken or pork, and Asian-infused sautéed toppings and dressings.

For customers who love carbs, Rutters will offer new fresh-baked sub and cibatta rolls in seven varieties and are available for sandwiches or for individual retail purchase. The sub rolls are available in white, wheat, Italian, garlic and everything; the cibatta bread is available in regular and multi-grain varieties.

The retailer enhanced existing segments by offering freshly tossed chef, garden and Caesar salads and a new selection of sides and appetizers, including French fries, onion rings, hash browns, potato cakes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, jalapenos with cheese, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks and nachos.

"We've positioned ourselves to compete against restaurants as well as convenience stores. And yet we've retained the fast aspect as every item on our menu can be prepared in less than four minutes from the time one of our team members starts to work on it," Weiner said in a released statement.
