CARY, N.C. – Kangaroo Express, a subsidiary of The Pantry Inc., is giving fans of its Roo Cup the chance to register and reserve -- or "ROOserve" -- their cup one week early if they reserve it on the chain's Facebook page or the Kangaroo Express mobile app.
The 2014 Roo Cup retails for $6.99 plus tax and can be refilled with any fountain or frozen beverage for 25 cents from May 1 through Sept. 30. Customization options such as colored straws and additional opportunities to save all summer will return to Kangaroo Express in May, the company said.
Starting today, consumers can unlock an additional week of Roo Cup refills. Those who make a reservation will receive a certificate via email or on the mobile app's deals page with details on how to redeem it in-store and purchase their cup on Thursday, April 24 at 8 a.m. The Roo Cup will be fully released to the public on Thursday, May 1.
"The Roo Cup is back for a fourth summer, offering guests one of the best values in town on their favorite frozen and fountain beverages," said Gordon Schmidt, interim senior vice president of operations for Kangaroo Express. "We invite all guests -- from devoted Roo Cup fans to those that will enjoy their first Roo-fill this year -- to get a head start on their summer of savings and refills by registering to reserve their Roo Cup early."
In 2013, more than 3,000 consumers reserved their Roo Cup in advance.
The Kangaroo Express mobile app is available on Google Play, the iPhone App Store and BlackBerry App World.
Kangaroo Express also plans to hold social media contests each month to give Roo Cup fans the opportunity to win prizes and be featured on RooCup.com. The first contest will kick off April 7 by asking fans to share how they've refreshed their 2013 Roo Cup to find uses for it all year long, using the hashtag #RooCupRefresh.
Customers can also join the Roo Club by texting "ROOCLUB" to "THEROO" (843766) to receive text messages deals, such as free refill days and in-store deals on candy, snacks and more.
