Retailers Keep Holiday Travelers Going With Free Coffee

NATIONAL REPORT — Holiday travelers will be able to stay alert on their journeys through free coffee given away by convenience store chains.

Cumberland Farms is offering customers a free hot or iced coffee in any size on Christmas Day from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m, reported MassLive. They can be customized with a free limited-edition holiday flavor shot, such as peppermint or gingerbread.

The Framingham, Mass.-based chain regularly offers free coffee on major holidays. The free drinks will be available at Cumberland Farms' nearly 600 c-stores in the Northeast and Florida.

The Illinois Tollway is also inviting drivers to enjoy a free cup of coffee at Oasis c-stores along the Tollway on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, reported WREX. The free coffee is available at the Belvidere Oasis and the DeKalb Oasis from 9 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

The Tollway expects more than 1.3 million vehicles to be on the Tollway system on Dec. 24 and 1.2 million on Christmas Day; it also expects 1.2 million vehicles on Dec. 31 and 1 million on New Year's Day. On an average day, approximately 1.6 million vehicles use the Tollway.
