Quick Chek's Customer Support Center Goes Green
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, a chain of nearly 120 c-stores throughout New Jersey and southern New York, completed its first renewable energy project: the installation of a 110-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of its customer support center here.
The new solar array is expected to generate more than 20 percent of the electricity used at the corporate headquarters during its first year of operation alone, the retailer reported.
Quick Chek is partnering on the project with Vanguard Energy Partners LLC, a renewable energy company based in Branchburg, N.J., that provides both the private and public sectors with innovative power and energy efficient solutions. Quick Chek’s first renewable energy initiative includes the installation of 627 roof-mounted Sharp modules that will generate approximately 120,000 KWH/AC from natural sunlight.
"Throughout our history, we’ve prided ourselves on being forward-thinking stewards of our environment, constantly researching and implementing methods such as energy management refrigeration systems and LED lighting packages that not only create efficiencies and save dollars, but conserve energy," Quick Chek Vice President of Sales and Merchandising John Schaninger said in a statement. "Our future plans include exploring additional solar energy initiatives across our portfolio of fresh food store locations."
According to Alex Rivera, vice president of Vanguard Energy Partners, Quick Chek’s forward-thinking decision to implement solar energy is a clear indication of the company’s industry leadership and strategic use of the financial incentives currently being offered as part of New Jersey’s world-class Clean Energy Program.
