Petro Restaurants Celebrate Chicken Fried Steak Day

WESTLAKE, Ohio — TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel centers, is celebrating Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day on Oct. 26 by offering its famous chicken fried steak for just $5.99 in its Petro Iron Skillet restaurants across the United States.

The Texas legislature proclaimed Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day in 2011 in honor of "that exceptional dish that elevates the hearty flavor of beef to new heights by coating it in batter and breading and frying it until the ingredients are melded in a blissful union," according to the announcement.

"Petro and the Iron Skillet were born in El Paso, Texas, in 1975, and we want to honor our Texas heritage," said John Ponczoch, senior vice president, restaurant operations. "For more than 35 years, we have been proud to serve the very best hand-cut, hand-breaded chicken fried steak and want to be sure folks across America have the opportunity to taste this Texas tradition."

Participating Petro Iron Skillet restaurants will offer dine-in customers the choice of a chicken fried steak breakfast or dinner for $5.99 from 6 a.m. through 10 p.m. The breakfast option is served with two fresh eggs cooked any style, toast or biscuits, and the choice of home fries, hash browns or grits. The dinner comes with Iron Skillet's famous homemade mashed potatoes and gravy.

TravelCenters of America operates 251 full-service locations in 43 states and Canada under the Petro Stopping Centers and TA brands.
