NYACS Unites with Groups to Lobby

ALBANY -- Five trade groups have united under one name -- the Retail and Service Employers of New York -- to lobby on issues of common interest, such as workers' compensation reform, reported the Albany Times Union.

The group is made up of the New York Association of Convenience Stores (NYACS); the Retail Council of New York State; the Food Industry Alliance of New York; the New York State Restaurant Association, and the Empire State Restaurant and Tavern Association.

The group joined to voice its concerns to the Business Council of New York State, led by Ken Adams, which it feels has not addressed some of its concerns, the report stated.

The issues the group plans to focus on include unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, health care, energy costs, business taxes and general economic development, the report stated.
