Kum & Go, Iowa's Corn Growers Association Award Free Food, Fuel

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Kum & Go LLC and the Iowa's Corn Growers Association recently wrapped up their Iowa Corn Fed GameDay GiveAway campaign, Wallace's Farmer reported.

Katie Ortmann was the big winner at the recent Iowa vs. Iowa State Men's basketball game, when her name was drawn at halftime as the recipient of free food and fuel for a year.

The Iowa Corn Fed GameDay GiveAway was part of a GameDay partnership that included the University of Iowa and Iowa State University football, basketball and wrestling seasons. Consumers could enter the drawing from Aug. 20 through Nov. 20 for a chance to win "Free Food and Fuel for a Year -- $5,000 in groceries and $2,500 in ethanol from Kum & Go."

Marc Foster of Iowa City and Chris Dobel of Urbana, Iowa, also were also randomly selected to receive runner-up prizes of free food and fuel. They were presented with gift certificates at the Iowa vs. Iowa State Wrestling Meet on Friday, Dec. 3 and the Iowa vs. Iowa State Women's Basketball game on Thursday, Dec. 9, respectively, according to the report.

"We've reached thousands of people with the Iowa Corn Fed GameDay GiveAway promotion," said Mindy Williamson, director of communications and public relations for the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. "Ethanol use was just one benefit featured in the program, which included food and feed uses for corn and messages about corn's importance to Iowa's economy, environment and energy independence."

The Iowa Corn Promotion Board works to develop and defend markets, fund research and provide education about corn and corn products. The Iowa Corn Growers Association is a membership organization that lobbies on agricultural issues on behalf of its 6,000 members.
