Kangaroo Express Hops on National Hot Dog Day

CARY, N.C. – Kangaroo Express, a subsidiary of The Pantry Inc., will celebrate National Hot Dog Day on July 23 by offering a free hot dog to members of the U.S. military and customers who download the convenience store chain's mobile app.

Any customer who visits one of the nearly 1,200 grill-ready Kangaroo Express locations between 6 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on National Hot Dog Day and presents a military I.D. will receive a free hot dog. Additionally, those who present the Kangaroo Express mobile app on their phone will receive a coupon voucher for the same.

"With more than one-third of our employees having a direct connection to the military, we are proud to support the military community all year long and are continually inspired by the generosity of our guests," said Gordon Schmidt, senior vice president of operations for Kangaroo Express. "We invite our guests to help us add a side of patriotic relish to National Hot Dog Day by enjoying an all-American classic and supporting the troops who protect our freedom every day."

In further celebration, Kangaroo Express will offer 50-cent Ball Park hot dogs (limit four per guest) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. With a Roo Cup refill, customers can enjoy a hot dog and beverage for just 75 cents.

As part of iconic American celebrations and pastimes, including Independence Day and summer baseball games, the hot dog pairs perfectly with American pride, the retailer stated.

Customers are invited to enjoy their hot dogs while supporting military men and women by donating to Kangaroo Express' Salute Our Troops campaign. Donations from the campaign will support the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces; Fisher House Foundation, which donates "comfort homes" at major military and VA medical centers that enable military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization; and the U.S. Veterans Corps.
