Jackson Oil Purchases Brico of Idaho

BOISE, Idaho -- Jackson Oil Inc. has purchased Twin Falls-based petroleum company Brico of Idaho Inc., according to a report in The Idaho Statesman.

Jackson Oil, owned by Meridian-based Jackson Food Stores Inc., distributes fuel to about 300 Shell, Texaco, Phillips and Chevron gas stations in eight Western states.

"It was a natural fit for us," said Tony Stone, president of Jackson Oil. "It was an opportunity to grow the Chevron brand, and Brico is currently already in our marketing areas."

Brico gas customers should notice little change, Stone said in the report, because all retail outlets will remain open but be supplied and operated by Jackson Oil.

Before the sale, Brico distributed about 30 million gallons of Chevron gasoline per year in southern Idaho, northern Nevada and eastern Oregon.

Stone did not disclose how much Jackson Oil paid for Brico, one of Idaho's top 75 private companies.

Jackson Oil has sold some of its convenience stores, warehouses and bulk plants to Franklin United Inc. of Twin Falls and Twin Stop LLC of Twin Falls, the report stated.

The company will continue to be headquartered in Meridian, Stone said, adding that if the company does have to lay off employees as part of the Brico purchase, those layoffs will be limited.
