Hot Stuff Foods Launches New Breakfast Initiative

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Hot Stuff Foods launched a new initiative that supports retailers' efforts to take back breakfast by lowering food costs, and introducing new products and incentives, according to Craig VanHyfte, the company's vice president of marketing.

Immediate steps include:

-- Lower retail pricing: Hot Stuff's new pricing structure maintains the same high-quality ingredients and keeps portion sizes the same or greater than national quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands, the company reported. Suggested retail prices begin at 99 cents so retailers can compete head-to-head with free-standing fast food outlets, Hot Stuff said.

-- New products: Hot Stuff rolled out a full line of the most popular breakfast item in America -- the English muffin sandwich. The five varieties include Sausage, Egg and Cheese; Ham, Egg and Cheese; Bacon, Egg and Cheese; Egg and Cheese; and Sausage. In addition, the company said it offers the most extensive menu line of any national QSR franchise, with biscuit and croissant sandwiches, breakfast pizzas, Cinnobabies (mini gourmet cinnamon rolls), muffins, doughnuts, stuffed sandwiches, a French Toast and Maple Sausage Sandwich, breakfast burritos and Chorizo tacos.

-- Improved car-friendly packaging: Hot Stuff's breakfast sandwiches now come in the "New Breakfast Wrap." During pilot testing, more than 80 percent of retailers reported an increase in breakfast sandwich sales, and consumers reported the new packaging was easier to handle and more accommodating for dashboard dining, the company stated.

-- Incentive program: Hot Stuff's exclusive rewards program incentivizes foodservice managers and employees for growing breakfast sales within individual stores.

"Fast-food restaurants have amped up their efforts to take the traditionally strong breakfast business from convenience stores, and Hot Stuff Foods is arming our retailer partners with lower food costs and other advantages to recapture a greater share of the market," VanHyfte said in a statement. "We are boldly proclaiming with our franchise partners that we are taking back breakfast while providing the unmatched convenience and choices that c-stores have long been reputed for."

Hot Stuff Foods franchises and/or licenses its branded food concepts in more than 1,200 locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Hot Stuff Foods also offers Lettieri's Food To Go through distributors across the U.S.
