Gift Cards Top Wish Lists

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Spending weeks shopping and searching for the perfect present is becoming a thing of the past as gift cards rise to the top of more wish lists this holiday season.

"Gift cards are everywhere now -- in supermarkets, drug and convenience stores, but besides the obvious convenience factor, gift cards are hugely popular because they come in many denominations from a variety of retailers," said gift expert Alison Deyette, who offers gift-giving advice on "The Today Show," "The View" and "Extra."

"You can pick a gift card that suits the recipient's personality, interests and hobbies, and then present it in a unique and creative way."

More than 80 percent of adults received at least one gift card last holiday season, according to a retail survey by Deloitte & Touche, and nine out of 10 purchasers and recipients indicated they were "extremely satisfied" with gift cards, according to another study commissioned by ValueLink.

Recently, Circle K stores launched their new Gift Card Mall nationwide. Available at more than 2,100 Circle K Store locations, the new Gift Card Mall features gift cards from some of America’s leading retailers including AMC Theatres, American Express Gift Cards, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Bed Bath & Beyond, Blockbuster, Chili’s Restaurants, Foot Locker, Pizza Hut, Sears and others.

"Circle K recognized how difficult and time-consuming it can be to choose the perfect gift for family, friends and employees," said Dan Stiel, manager of financial services for Circle K. "Gift cards have become the favorite gift to give and receive because they always come in the right size, color and flavor. Now holiday shoppers can avoid the hassle of going to the mall, and get their favorite gift cards at Circle K."
