Giant Eagle Expands foodperks!

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Adding to its fuelperks! loyalty program, where customers get discounts on fuel based on in-store food purchases, Giant Eagle is now expanding its foodperks! offer in Cleveland, offering the opposite, according to a report by Cleveland.com.

The foodperks! program offers Giant Eagle Advantage Card customers who purchase fuel regularly at its GetGo gas stations up to 20 percent off their food purchases at the company's grocery stores, according to the report.

Customers earn 1 percent off their food bill with every 10 gallons of gas purchase or up to a maximum of $60 off a $300 food bill if they purchase 200 gallons of gas within three months.

"A busy household with two vehicles making weekly fillups can earn foodperks! discounts quickly," Dan Pastor, GetGo vice president of fuel and convenience stores, said in the report. "Those foodperks! can be accumulated over time, and in just a few weeks can deliver a significant discount on groceries."

Foodperks! discounts can't be redeemed for government-regulated items, gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, state and federally funded prescriptions, prescriptions paid by third parties, postage stamps, lottery tickets, money orders, entertainment tickets and other prohibited items, according to the report.

Foodperks! is an extension of a program Giant Eagle launched in Columbus in November 2008 and later expanded to Western Pennsylvania and Frederick, Md.
